Stakeholder sourced 10-year vision for Dementia in Hong Kong SAR China

10-Year Vision for Dementia in Hong Kong – Stakeholder Opinion Survey

A wide range of 190 stakeholders, including families and persons with dementia, service providers, academics, philanthropist, policy advisors, government officers and the general public, were invited to express their opinions regarding dementia service and related developments in Hong Kong for the next 10 years. A huge number of constructive ideas with great enthusiasm were collected and aggregated following the Delphi method for forming consensus among stakeholders. Six major directions were identified on supporting people with dementia and their carers related to services, community, and policy development. These invaluable ideas will become the key foundation for our upcoming research work:

  1. Building a dementia-friendly community
  2. Early diagnosis and healthcare support
  3. Strengthening home-based care
  4. Strengthening community care and long-term care
  5. Family carer support
  6. Developing dementia policy and long-term plan
