Indonesian Theory of Change workshop

The first STRiDE project national Theory of Change (ToC) workshop took place today in Indonesia. Organised by the country team – Tara Sani, Yuda Turana and Imelda Theresia – the workshop was very well attended and included representatives from three ministries, various national NGOs, the Asia Development Bank and Help Age. The workshop had a good mixture of expertise across 30 participants.

Participants worked together to develop a ToC map for STRiDE specific to Indonesia to plan what needs to be done so people living with dementia and their carers can live well in Indonesia. They started by discussing expected impact, objectives and assumptions. Over lunch the Indonesian team “condensed” all the post-its into a first version of the map and invited everyone to look, comment and check if anything was missing. The map was changed and developed as participants suggested things that were missing and changes. While part of the team shaped the map, the rest of the room were asked to think about what it is like to live with dementia, using a great exercise learnt from Dementia Alliance International’s Eileen Taylor and Dubghlas Taylor at our March meeting.

The Indonesian team enjoyed the experience of running their first such workshop. They are in the process of writing a report from their workshop. More soon…
