There are 355 specialists registered under psychiatry out of 6797 registered medical practitioners in the Specialist Register in 2016 (The Medical Council of Hong Kong, 2016).

As of 2018, Kenya had no geriatrician, but had one medical gerontologist and two social gerontologists (Wanja, 2018).

Among specialities relevant to all forms of Dementia, there were 422 Geriatricians and 4,429 Psychiatrists in the whole country in 2017. It was estimated that there were 3.25 Geriatricians and 3.4 Psychiatrists per 100,000 individuals 60 years and older (Heinze-Martin et al., 2018).

It was noted that there were about 8 geriatricians in 2010 for a population of 4 million people of 60 years and older (Lloyd-Sherlock, 2019a). There are an estimated 650 psychiatrists across the country (0.4% per 100 000 in the public sector), with only 3 specialising in old-age psychiatry (psychogeriatricians) (Health24, 2018b).
